Program: The Fashion Design course trains the student using multiple approaches, not only the practical aspect of Fashion design and the sketching of figures, but also the development of a multi-facetted specific sensitivity to everything that constitutes Fashion. This includes new trends, technical and style characteristics of fashion leaders, influences from Costume History, first theoretical approaches to working methodology, and the planning of Collections.

The course is developed through a deepening path of study, that touches on various subjects:

  • study of human anatomy using simple designs.
  • study of the various positions of the human body, and techniques for the construction of the figure.
  • analysis of anatomical design and the creation of graphic and figure bases from which to develop sketches and fashion illustrations.
  • learning about, and trying various color techniques ( Pantone, colored pencils, watercolors, chalks etc. )
  • explaining and experimenting with techniques to visualise different types of fabric
  • theoretical explanation of the usual working methodology used for the development of a Collection in large Fashion Houses.
  • development of a fashion Collection using creative design methods.
  • selecting and developing a Theme using the Phased project method:
    • Phase 1: Creative Research phase through magazines, newspapers, books, catalogues or photographs taken by the student around the city.
    • Phase 2: Trend-analysis phase, creating a mood-board that demonstrates the research done on the chosen Theme.
    • Phase 3: Development of the Theme through fashion sketches and illustrations.
    • Phase 4: Data sheets with technical drawings.
    • Phase 5: Design and creation of Page Layouts of the Collection.
    • Phase 6: Collection presentation.

During the course, and depending on the specific interests of the student and chosen Theme, it will also be possible to expand and diversify the topic, and explore what may be individually more interesting for the student.
You’ll be able to analyze Costume history, study in-depth a particular Designer, concentrate on preparing a Portfolio, or dedicate yourself to the designing of accessories, bags and scarves.
